Intermediate Jewelry SII - Spring 2018

Building upon what was learned in the Beginner class, students will spend one night each exploring the design and construction of earrings, bracelets, and necklaces. Students should bring their ideas for types of jewelry they like and are interested in learning how to make and each student will be working on their own designs with help from the instructor. Tools and basic jewelry supplies will be available and additional supplies will be discussed the first night of class.

Cost includes $5 material fee.

Looking at Your Woodlot Like a Garden - Spring 2018

This class will be an open discussion of what makes your woodlot grow and thrive. We will be discussing the benefits of what your woodlot can do for you, animals and community. We will also touch upon management strategies of what you can do to improve your woodlot for birds, mammals, reptiles and for people. Wear appropriate clothing and bring crampons for better footing.

Maine Flower Show - Spring 2018

The Maine Flower Show, owned and produced by members of Maine’s horticulture industry, is one of the biggest gardening and horticultural shows in the region. With a new location and new management, the Maine Flower Show at Thompson’s Point in Portland boasts more display gardens, more exhibits, more planting and outdoor living inspiration than any local show.

In addition to the 14 display gardens, the 2018 Maine Flower Show will have 115 exhibits of plants, hardscape, arbor and garden supplies, hands-on workshops and seminars led by experts in growing and outdoor living. Growing enthusiasts of all stripes enjoy this one-of-a-kind horticultural experience each year.

Travel by train from Saco to Portland. Then we will walk to the Flower Show. You have three hours to explore the flower show before we cross the street and tour 4 Thompson’s Point. At 3 o’clock we will be visiting Stroudwater Distillery then you can go to Bissell Brothers Brewer and/or Cellardoor Winery. At 5:30 pm we will walk back to the train station and ride back to Saco.
