  • Stitch basics and types
  • Fabric and fiber types
  • Marking and cutting fabric
  • Understanding sewing pattern markings
  • Sizing and fitting
  • Beginners’ Project: PJ pants
  • Finishing stitches and pressing
  • Picking out your next project

Supply list:

  • Sewing Machine (If unable to bring own machine please let us know, one can be supplied)

Create a dramatic ocean/beach scene using 2 part epoxy resin and pigments on a piece of live edge wood in this class that is perfect for everyone from absolute beginners to experienced artists. No artistic experience is necessary. Resin is messy so wear old clothes and tie back your hair if necessary. If you have a heat gun or a hair dryer, and an extension cord, bring them. For the hair dryer, if you have the attachment that narrows the nozzle, bring that too. All other supplies are provided. If you have your own piece of live edge wood you want to use, it must be sanded smooth prior to class and be no larger than 12” x 12”. Pieces can be left to dry and picked up later, or you can elect to take the item home in a container provided.

Resin Ink Frames - Spring 2019

$49

with Tara Finlay

Calendar Next session starts Mar 4, 2019 at 6 pm, runs for 1 week

With this exciting process, you never know how it is going to turn out until the resin is cured and you can turn the frame over to see the striking results. Learn how to prepare frames, mix and pour 2-part epoxy resin, and then use a special technique to create designs in the resin with the inks. If you have ever seen a glass paper weight with colored class ribbons inside, this technique is reminiscent of that. If you are sensitive you may need to purchase a respirator mask but the area we will be working in is well-ventilated and most people don’t notice a scent. Students must be 18 years or older due to working with the resin. Students under 18 years old must be accompanied by a paying parent.

Students will leave their project to dry for 24 hours and will be able to pick up after March 6th.
