Balsam Fir Christmas Wreath - Fall 2017

Join us for a fun filled class! Create a gift, continue a Maine tradition and keep Maine Green this Christmas. Make a beautiful fresh @ 24” balsam fir Christmas wreath. Beginners become instant wreath makers with easy clamp rings. Your wreath will remain fresh throughout the holidays and beyond. After the holidays, recycle the ring and use the balsam in a fragrant sachet.

Materials provided: Freshly harvested Maine Balsam Fir, red ribbon, easy clamp ring. Additional supplies available.

Bring to class: Gloves and small hand pruners.

Instructor: Our instructors are experienced wreath makers, crafters and educators. Presented by Woodlot Management & Products, a family owned and operated tree farm.

Join us for a fun filled class! Create a gift, bring the fragrance of Christmas into your home and keep Maine green this Christmas. Using materials provided, you will make a beautiful, 16” full arrangement of Maine balsam decorated with red ribbons. Your kissing ball is designed to be hung in an archway or outdoors. It will remain fresh throughout the holidays and beyond. After the holidays, recycle the balsam in a fragrant sachet.

Materials provided: Freshly picked Maine Balsam Fir from our local woodlot, red ribbon, kissing ball form. Additional supplies available.

Learning to Sew Stitch by Stitch - Fall 2017

Have you been too afraid to learn how to sew? Starting to sew is simple if you go stitch by stitch. Learning how to sew is a “hands on” and “learning by doing” experience. It does take practice to build up skill in order to do all the stitches correctly, but that’s the great part about learning with your new best friend the seam ripper. After you do a few of the projects, you will feel that you can do anything with sewing!

We will cover:

  • Sewing Machine Basics, Care and Use
  • Stitch Basics and Types
  • Fabric and Fiber Types
  • Marking and Cutting Fabric
  • Understanding sewing pattern markings
  • Sizing and Fitting
