Create a gift, bring the fragrance of Christmas into your home and keep Maine green this Christmas. Using materials provided, you will make a beautiful, 16” full  arrangement of Maine balsam decorated with red ribbons. Your kissing ball is designed to be hung in an archway or outdoors. It will remain fresh throughout the holidays and beyond. After the holidays, recycle the balsam in a fragrant sachet.

Materials provided: Freshly picked Maine Balsam Fir from our local woodlot, red ribbon, kissing ball form.

Supply list: gloves and small hand pruners.

Additional supplies available.

Material fee $13 payable to instructor CASH only.

With this exciting process, you never know what beautiful patterns will be created until the paint is poured. We’ll cover what types of paint and additives work best to create beautiful abstract art. This class is appropriate for any artistic skill level, from beginner to pro, who wants to learn this technique. You will be transporting your wet paintings home in a container provided by the instructor, but you may want to have some plastic or cardboard in your car for the trip home.

Learn basic crochet skills such as chaining, the basic stitches, and then we’ll use those stitches to create a dishcloth. We’ll learn crocheting in the round, increases and decreases by making a scrubby, and how to crochet to a dishtowel. For the first class you will need:

  • Basic set of crochet hooks size E-J or F-K or one size J hook (The instructor will have crochet hooks to share if you want to try before you buy.)
  • Ball of medium-weight 100% COTTON yarn like “Sugar N’ Cream”.

There is no materials fee. Additional materials for the second and third week of class will be discussed and the cost of those materials will be minimal.

Christmas Center Piece - Fall 2018

In class we will prepare the frames and design and attach the items and hooks so you can hang the finished product. Sewing 302: Pattern Drafting Creating Clothing from Something You Already Own - Fall 2018

Do you have a favorite article of clothing? Or something that you absolutely love to wear and looks fabulous on you? This class will teach you the basics of pattern making. How to easily make a pattern out of another article of clothing. How to flat draft a simple pattern.

Supply list:

  • Sewing machine (If unable to bring own machine please let us know, one can be supplied)
  • Needles/pins, cloth measuring tape, chalk/marking pencil, seam ripper
  • 1 Roll of cheap wrapping paper (blank on one side)
  • Article of clothing you want to make
  • 2-3 yards of a similar fabric (not necessary for first class)

Prerequisites: A basic knowledge and being able to work with/around your sewing machine is required for this course. If you have not taken a sewing 101/Sewing Basics class please check out Learning to Sew Stitch by Stitch.
