Re-purposed Sweater Mittens - Fall 2018

Come create a toasty pair of adult sized mittens from a well-loved wool or wool blend sweater complete with a fleece liner. Bring along a washed sweater, 1/3 yard polar fleece, thread to match, pins, and fabric shears. If you have a portable sewing machine in good working order, please bring along. Extra sweaters and fleece will be available for a small fee.

Rectangular Shaker Style Basket - Fall 2018

With the look of simplicity, but many functions, this rectangular woven based basket measures approximately 14” long, 10’ wide, and 8” high before the handle.

Supply list: a mop size bucket, sturdy scissors, 12 spring type clothespins, pencil, jackknife, tape measure, and a spray bottle.

At this level you will learn the three sacred and ancient Reiki healing symbols, the definitions and practice drawing them. Receive your Reiki II level attunement, learn and practice distance Reiki and work with one another. Discuss building your Reiki practice and preparing sacred space for treatments. The class ends with your certificate and you are considered a practitioner and may practice Reiki on anyone. You must be certified in Reiki I to take this class.

Sewing 201: 1 Foot, 2 Foot, Zipper Foot, Button Foot - Fall 2018

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE DATES HAVE CHANGED FOR THIS CLASS.  IT IS NOW GOING TO BE TUESDAYS, OCTOBER 23RD AND OCTOBER 30TH.

Incorporate some much needed techniques into your projects by learning how to utilize the different feet attachments! Learn how to use your buttonhole foot.

Sew a button on with your machine. And insert a zipper with your zipper foot. All of these techniques will be practiced and incorporated into a take home project on the last day.

Supply list:

  • 2 Cotton Fabric Quarters ( 2 pieces of contrasting Cotton, ¼ yard.)
  • 1 Zipper at 9-12 inches long
  • Thread
  • Sewing Machine (If unable to bring own machine please let us know, one can be supplied)
  • 4 Pack of 1 inch NOT-domed buttons

Prerequisites: A basic knowledge and being able to work with/around your sewing machine is required for this course. If you have not taken a sewing 101/Sewing Basics class please check out Learning to Sew Stitch by Stitch.

Sewing 202: Buttons, Holes, Zippers and Trim Creating a Fabric Purse - Fall 2018

Incorporate some much needed techniques into your projects by learning how to use your buttonhole foot. Sew a button on with your machine. And insert a zipper with your zipper foot. All of these techniques will be practiced and incorporated into a take home project on the last day.

Supply list:

  • ½ yard cotton for outside
  • ½ yard contrasting cotton for inside lining
  • ¼ yard cotton for pockets
  • 1 package of ¼ in double fold bias tape
  • 1 zipper at 9-12 inches long
  • Thread
  • 2-4 Buttons
  • Sewing machine (If unable to bring own machine please let us know, one can be supplied)
  • Needles/Pins, cloth measuring tape, chalk/marking pencil, seam ripper

Prerequisites: A basic knowledge and being able to work with/around your sewing machine is required for this course. If you have not taken a sewing 101/Sewing Basics class please check out Learning to Sew Stitch by Stitch.

Sewing 301: Altering Clothing to Fit You Bonus Adding Pockets! - Fall 2018

In this class we will cover how to take clothing pieces and adapt them to fit your body. Class 1 will go over tops. Class 2 will go over pants. Class 3 will cover skirts and dresses. With the added bonus of learning how to insert a pocket into a skirt or dress that doesn’t have them.

Supply list:

  • Sewing machine (If unable to bring own machine please let us know, one can be supplied)
  • Needles/pins, cloth measuring tape, chalk/marking pencil, seam ripper
  • 3 items to alter. (Dress/skirt not necessary. Second shirt can be substituted.)
  • 1 fabric quarter pack

Sewing 302: Pattern Drafting Creating Clothing from Something You Already Own - Fall 2018

Do you have a favorite article of clothing? Or something that you absolutely love to wear and looks fabulous on you? This class will teach you the basics of pattern making. How to easily make a pattern out of another article of clothing. How to flat draft a simple pattern.

Supply list:

  • Sewing machine (If unable to bring own machine please let us know, one can be supplied)
  • Needles/pins, cloth measuring tape, chalk/marking pencil, seam ripper
  • 1 Roll of cheap wrapping paper (blank on one side)
  • Article of clothing you want to make
  • 2-3 yards of a similar fabric (not necessary for first class)

Prerequisites: A basic knowledge and being able to work with/around your sewing machine is required for this course. If you have not taken a sewing 101/Sewing Basics class please check out Learning to Sew Stitch by Stitch.
